After weeks of intensive care for your three legal plants, the big day is approaching: harvest time. The anticipation is huge, but beware: patience is a true virtue when growing cannabis! If you harvest your cannabis too early, you risk forfeiting the full potential of your hard work. In this guide, you'll learn why waiting makes the difference between "okay" and "absolutely top-tier."

1. Dramatic Loss of Cannabinoids & Terpenes

THC, CBD, and aromatic terpenes only reach their peak during the final ripening phase. If you harvest too early, these compounds are not yet fully developed. The consequence:

• Weaker effect: The high or medicinal benefits fall far short of expectations.
• Flat aroma: The complex flavor notes of your strain – from fruity to diesel-like – cannot develop.

2. You forfeit a massive yield

In the last two weeks of the flowering phase, the buds gain significant volume and density. Those who cut too early will harvest airy, "fluffy" flowers instead of compact heavyweights. Since you are only allowed to grow a limited number of plants according to the CanG, you should maximize the weight of each individual plant!

3. Unpleasant Effect: Racing Heart Instead of Relaxation

The harvest time determines the type of high. Cannabis harvested too young often has an unbalanced ratio of ingredients. • The Pistils: About 70–90% of the small hairs should be brown/orange and slightly curled.
• The Leaves: The plant often begins to yellow its large fan leaves (autumn look) – a sign that it is putting its energy into the flowers.
• Breeder's Information: Use the flowering week indication of your strain as a rough guide, but ultimately always trust your microscope.
