⚠️ Check First, Then Fertilize: The Veto Protocol
90% of all supposed deficiencies are actually problems with the basics. Before you change the N-P-K values, this check MUST be done:
- pH Value: Is your pH value in the substrate incorrect (Soil: 6.0–7.0 / Hydro: 5.5–6.5)? Then a lockout occurs. The nutrients are there, but the door is closed.
- VPD (Climate): If the air is too dry or too humid, transpiration stops. The plant no longer "drinks" – and without water flow, no nutrients reach the top.
- DLI (Light): Too much light with too few nutrients leads to "light bleaching" and burns that look like deficiencies.

Nitrogen deficiency is a classic. It always starts with the oldest, lowest leaves because the plant sends mobile N to the new shoots. If the entire plant turns pale yellow at the bottom, it's hungry.
Caution: If the leaves turn yellow, but the pH value is 5.0, fertilizer won't help at all!
